With it's crystal clear waters and laid back vibes, the Caribbean lends itself perfectly to the pace of cruising. A Caribbean travel cruise is one of the nicest ways to keep yourself immersed in the natural beauty of the Caribbean. No matter what your travel style, there is a cruise type for you. The only part that will require thought will be choosing your perfect Caribbean travel cruise.

The idea of cruising usually evokes white sandy beaches and a giant ship packed with pasty northerners soaking in the tropical sun. While many head to ports of call for cruises that will whisk them into the Caribbean sun, it's important to know that there is more to Caribbean travel cruising. Determining your cruising style will open up a treasure trove of Caribbean adventure opportunities no matter what type of adventurer you are.

The size of the ship you choose is going to lend some insight into the type of Caribbean travel cruise experience that you have. Large ships tend to be geared to families and larger groups. These ships hold up to 4000 passengers and have every modern amenity that could be desired on board from movie theatres and night clubs to water parks and full spa and sports clubs.

A mid size ship will hold between 1000 and 1500 passengers. These ships are also well equipped with amenities but the crowd tends to be more relaxed, older and more engaged in sight seeing and land excursions.

Ship size often reflects the major difference in Caribbean travel cruises, land excursions. Smaller ships, carrying between a dozen and 100 passengers are able to more fluidly navigate island chains. The travel itinerary is often based on land and shore excursions.  On larger ships, the main attraction is the ship.

Smaller ships and yachts do tend to be more expensive. If you are looking for more of a pirate's eye view of the Caribbean, look for a larger boat that offers better discount travel pricing but that also offers excursions on smaller, Caribbean based yachts.

Even if you're ideal cruise involves sightseeing from the deck of a 4000 person floating city, reach out of your comfort zone and take at least one shore excursion. You don't want to miss the experience of quaint ancient Caribbean cities and water falls that seemed to only exist in movies.  Beaches so white and perfect that they numb the senses into submission and leave you with a sens of peace that lasts for days.
